From the Screen to the Senate: Amaranta Hank’s Historic Victory in Colombia

 

While some global institutions are still busy censoring the culture of nightlife and the adult industry, Colombia has just sent a powerful message to the world. Amaranta Hank (real name Deyci Alejandra Omaña), a former journalist and acclaimed adult film performer, has been officially elected to the Colombian Congress.

Running under the banner of the progressive Pacto Histórico party, Hank’s victory is not just a personal win; it is a seismic shift for sex workers' rights and sexual equality in South America.

“I Don’t Want Forgiveness, I Want Power”

In a recent interview, Hank made her position crystal clear. She isn't looking for the "pity" or "protection" that politicians usually offer women in the industry. She is demanding a seat at the table.

"I'm not going to wait until the system considers me worthy to demand my place," Hank stated. "I don't want them to forgive my past... I want them to recognize my power, the power of my voice, and the power of my colleagues."

She emphasized that women in the industry are essential pillars of the national economy, contributing to the GDP and, most importantly, supporting their families. Her mission in the Senate is clear: to fight the "hostile and exclusionary environment" that targets sex workers.

A Legacy of Political Courage

Amaranta Hank follows a path of professional and political autodetermination that has seen few, but legendary, precedents. Most notably in Italy in 1987, when Ilona Staller (Cicciolina) was elected to the Italian Parliament. Like Staller, Hank uses her public platform to challenge hypocrisy and advocate for civil liberties, proving that the transition from the adult industry to institutional leadership is a journey of strength, not shame.

Amaranta in the industry: a top-notch performer with a short career

Amaranta Hank didn't have a long career in the industry, but she was nonetheless a top-tier performer. Personally, I remember her from a couple of Evil Angel productions like ‘Public Squirting’ and ‘My Curvy Girlfriend.’ She later worked with CumLouder, BangBros, and FakeHub; 2018 was definitely the busiest year of her short career.
