Flesh, Blood, and Remotes: When Porn Invented Interactivity (Before AI)
The truth is, no cinematic genre interacts with the viewer quite like porn. It is a logic dictated by chemistry and biology. When you watch a hardcore scene, you feel involved; in a way, you participate, even if you are just in front of a screen.
As we explored in our recent post about the creations of My Naughty AI, interactivity today has reached its peak. Thanks to AI, you can now create custom women to fit your exact desires. But long before the "prompt era," interactive videos—where the viewer decided what happened on screen—were already a staple of the industry as far back as the early 2000s.
The Golden Era of Choice
I’m thinking of "Interactive Sex with Tori Black" (2009), where the unforgettable queen of that era performed her first-ever anal scene—an event that was interactive by design.
But the first example that comes to mind is "InTERActive" (2007), a stunning Hustler masterpiece directed by Q. Roberts. As our most attentive readers will have guessed from the title, the main star was the legendary Tera Patrick.
This wasn't just a movie; it was a nearly two-hour tech demo where three authentic divas broke the fourth wall, speaking directly to the viewers. They asked what they wanted to see, which look they preferred, and even let the viewer decide the finale (and we know some prefer a facial while others go for the body shower—you get the idea). These options popped up on the screen, and the viewer could apply them using nothing but the buttons on their DVD remote. Today it looks like "prehistory," but 20 years ago, it was the absolute cutting edge of visual technology.
Porn: The Pioneer of the POV
We know porn anticipates the times. Look at the POV (Point of View) style: it was born entirely within porn and has since been adopted by mainstream cinema.
In InTERActive, alongside Tera Patrick, we had Jessica Jaymes with that hypnotic, panther-like gaze of hers. We miss Jessica dearly; she left us in 2019, and had she lived, she would have celebrated her 47th birthday this past March 8th. Back then, she was a Hustler contract star, an absolute goddess.
Then there was the wild Hillary Scott, who, in that video, was the only one offering the viewer the choice of anal sex. And of course! If you have Hillary in the cast, anal is the bare minimum. The male lead was Spyder Jonez (Evan Seinfeld), the former musician from the heavy metal band Biohazard and the lucky husband of Tera Patrick. During that period, he was the protagonist of numerous scenes with his wife and other great performers, as well as a director for Teravision.
The Bottom Line
Years before the AI invasion, porn was already interactive, and it was made of flesh and blood. And what flesh, guys! I challenge any AI today to create the aesthetic and scenic perfection of a star like Tera Patrick.
While we embrace the future, we respect the pioneers who turned a remote control into a gateway for desire.
And in this post we celebrate InTERActive and the beautiful and timeless Tera Patrick in a POV sequence from the film.
