Ashlyn Gere, the first "Female Performer of the Year" in the history of AVN Awards

Almost 22 years ago, in 1993, was chosen by the jury the first "Female Performer of the Year" at the AVN Awards. The most prestigious award lived its first time, in what was the tenth edition of the "Porn Oscar". It was the victory of Ashlyn Gere, an artist who had made her debut in the red light industry three years before, and for this provocative girl born in Cherry Point, North Carolina, in 1959 was indeed a night of triumph. In fact she won other four AVN Awards, for "Best Actress" for both the film (The Chameleons) that for the single video (Two Women), for "Best All-Girls Sex Scene" (in The Chameleons with Diedre Holland) and for "Best Group Sex Scene" (in Realities 2). Ashyln did the one-two "Best Actress film / video" also in 1995 and the same year she won the last AVN Award of her career for "Best Couple Sex Scene". She withdrew from the set in 2003 after more than 200 scenes. She has also appeared in some well-known mainstream productions, as in an episode of the hit TV series "The X-Files" in 1994, credited as Kimberly Ashylin Gere.
