Mike rightly called me into question because yesterday was the birthday for two artists that I love so much. Meanwhile, Jenna Haze, my absolute favorite. Jenna was born to do porn and is able to transform into art all that she does, both as a performer and as a director. But yesterday was also the birthday of Penny Flame, another one of my favorite artists for her versatility also if her link with the world of porn had assumed a pathological level, that brought her to leave the industry definitively in 2011. Penny, whose stage name was inspired by the famous Beatles song “Penny Lane”, is now an excellent writer and I recommend you read her autobiography, "I am Jeannie", where she uses her real name, Jennifer "Jennie" Ketcham. The book explains a lot about her and her life. She began her career in 2001, when she was 18 y.o., and she was the star on the set of over 400 scenes until 2011. Her is a very particular story, in the future she will admit to have a problem of sex-addiction that will take her to go under medical treatment. If sex has become a physical need or an obsession rather than a tool of pure pleasure, maybe is better stop with porn. It must have been the thought of our Penny. And although she miss to us because she was undoubtedly an extraordinary performer and also a good actress as demonstrated in the movie with Sasha Grey that we recently mentioned, "Throat: A Cautionary Tale", we are happy for her if she found now her balance away from hardcore industry.
